Hospitals face increasing pressure to maintain high hygiene standards while improving operational efficiency and controlling labor costs. Traditional manual cleaning methods are often unable to meet the demands of large-scale, multi-building healthcare environments.
This case study introduces how a hospital in Lishui, China, improved its cleaning operations by deploying an intelligent floor cleaning system from SIBEN.
The hospital serves approximately 470,000 people and consists of multiple buildings, including outpatient and inpatient areas with high daily traffic.
Key challenges include:
· Large and fragmented cleaning areas (lobbies, corridors, wards, elevators)
· High patient flow leading to frequent floor contamination
· Strict hygiene requirements under medical sanitation regulations
· High dependency on manual labor with inconsistent cleaning quality
To address these challenges, an autonomous floor cleaning solution was implemented, integrating sweeping, scrubbing, and drying functions into one system.
Each unit can clean approximately 2,000 square meters per hour, significantly reducing manual workload and improving response time in high-traffic areas.
The system supports disinfectant-compatible cleaning, helping reduce bacterial residue on floors and supporting hospital infection control standards.
The equipment is capable of multi-zone and multi-floor navigation, enabling automated cleaning across different hospital buildings with minimal human intervention.
Cleaning schedules can be customized to operate during off-peak hours, ensuring continuous cleanliness without disrupting hospital operations.

Cleaning efficiency increased by more than 60%, allowing faster response to floor contamination during peak hours.
Automation reduced reliance on manual cleaning staff, optimizing workforce allocation and lowering long-term operational costs.
More consistent cleaning and disinfection processes helped the hospital meet internal infection control requirements more reliably.
Staff training requirements were reduced, and cleaning operations became more standardized and easier to manage.
The hospital facilities manager reported:
After deploying the SIBEN cleaning system, cleaning efficiency improved significantly. The workload of cleaning staff was reduced, and overall hygiene levels became more stable. The system is easy to operate and requires minimal maintenance effort.
